K-5 II producing empty PEF file at end of series

When using continuous drive, I've twice had it happen that the last image in the series was saved perfectly in JPEG, but gave a PEF of zero bytes. There is no warning of this in the viewer, so I discovered this several days later when emptying my card. One series was two images long, the other ten. The camera also locked up several times, with the write light remaining on during at least one of these times, and review remaining visible. Only re-inserting the battery would make the camera responsive again. Since this is several days ago, I can't say whether the lock-up is related to the empty PEFs, and while I did not use continuous drive as much before upgrading to firmware v1.01, I did not have the problem before the upgrade. I've heard that the lock-up problem hasn't been solved in v1.02, so I'm reluctant to upgrade.

I would be very happy to downgrade, however, so my appeal to Pentax: Please provide firmware 1.00 for download!

Anybody else here with the problem and/or suggestions?

For the lock ups, Pentax is saying it has improved stability but they say that with all the updates

Yes, they said that with this one, and it looks like it made things worse.

Its easy enough to upgrade so why not try it?

Because the same logic may have contributed to the current mess.

My suggestions:

1) Try a different manufacturer of SD card. The faster the write and read speeds the better.

2) Do a reset of all camera features to return it to stock and then retry the latest firmware upgrade. Perhaps the first upgrade did not apply as it should have.

So it can only improve.
