I shoot video occasionally with my K5d simply because it's convenient to just turn the knob and get some footage. It's not bad but I find filming with a dSLR feels like trying to ram a square peg in a round hole.

Here is a quick test I filmed last year.

video on K-5

I tried the video once for a musical group. Pretty decent sound good quality video but the sensor showed warning of heating up after about 6 minutes on highest quality. Next time I will try it on lesser quality recording. Manual focus is a bit of a pain especially with lots of movement on the stage. Overall good though for short clips.

Was at the ALMS race at Laguna Seca this past weekend, shot my first ever Video with about 30 mins left in the 4 hour race, its maybe 5 mins long or so. No external Mic yet, still captured the sounds pretty darn well.

Nice. I felt like I was moving my gaze as I normally would to the action only it was your movements doing the work for me.

Here is a very quick and nasty video made from a bit of footage from my new K5iis

Note that it's a mishmash of 1080p-25 and 720p30 footage and it was made from a few clips I shot between photos without any effort to shoot the video properly (so noisy background, not turning off shake reduction while on monopod... you know all the "do not do" stuff

Here is my quick and dirty video with the K5 and DAL 55-300 lens. It was obviously handheld. Next time I will get the tripod out but I hardly ever use the K5 for video so please forgive me.

Just a little skate montage of some friends. It's definitely better quality watched through Vimeo. You can see when I had forgotten to turn off the SR. Shot using Rokinon 8mm fisheye.
