New bug or new limitation ?

I discovered this week that when using my Danubia PK/A-R extension tubes there is not aperture indication with A and DA lenses (F-- viewfinder and top screen), except in Live View !
There I can change the aperture with the wheel.
And the aperture is saved when I go back to viewfinder and shoot, but I cannot change it...

These tubes have only six contacts. Focal data is not transmitted...

No idea, I have a tube with a full set off contacts, only no AF.

Is the surface of the tube, where it is mated with the camera, chrome (bare metal) or anodized (black)?

If it is anodized, you need to sand or scrape the insulating black material down to bare metal. See the arrow in photo below as where to sand/scrape:

My guess is that it didn't really -- sometimes live view will display a "phantom" aperture instead of nothing, but I'm guess you really wouldn't have been able to stop down mechanically using the wheels. Trust the non-live view "F--"

No I could change it in Live View and it stopped down correctly even in non-Live View !
I could open to 1.7 with the A 50mm 1.7 and to 2.8 with the DA 40mm XS !

Well, it is open by default, so the question is could you close it down to f/11 or whatever?

Yes, even to F22 and I verified it.

Huh. Well, behavior is notably quirky with most extension tubes with contacts. Some lenses work, some need modification of the tubes, etc.

Thanks a lot!

This worked for me but I noticed that one only actually needs to clear a rather small area (pretty much where your arrowhead points to) for the seventh contact on the camera to make contact.

Strangely, my camera always gives me the option of f/1.2-f/22 independently of the lens I mount. Do you experience the same?

The contacts do not appear to transmit the correct min/max aperture encoding. However, stopping down the lens works and this is the most important thing.
