K-5II flash question

I have a Bower flash that I use on my 200d , when I put it on my k5II it flashes very rapidly as soon as it's on the camera . Should it work on the k5II? Is it safe to put on the k5II ? Should it work if I set the flash to manual not p-ttl .

You should have them both turned off when mounting or unmounting the flash.
What you describe sounds like a short across the hotshoe terminals.

Tried it with the camera off , and it's fine until I touch the shutter to focus and them it flashes rapidly . It seems to work fine in manual . I did clean the contacts but that didn't help . It's only a problem in p-tll .

Your flash is not compatible anymore since the K7. I have the same problem with my Dörr Combi TTL Flash...

Thanks I was afraid my new k5II was broken . I use my flash in manual mode most of the time anyway .

Do you know what the change from K7 to K5 is. I'm not aware of any changes to flash function between the two cameras. My flashes work exactly the same but they are Pentax.

I called Pentax to report the problem, they said : "If it works with a recent Pentax flash we can't do anything..."
The change is since the K7 not the K5. My Dörr still works well with my K20D !
I suppose that they removed compatibilty with older TTL mode (film aera)...
