K-5 doesn't recognize tamron 90mm

Not sure if its the best place to post this question.

I've just bought a tamron 90mm macro, but the camera doesn't seem to recognise the lens, I can't interact with the lens at all, can't set the f number take a picture, absolutely nothing.

If anyone can help before I take the long walk back to the camera shop.

Cheers

Is the aperture ring set to A?

Can you take a soft clean cloth, or a alcohol swab to clean the electrical contacts at the back of the lens, AND on the camera's lens mount?

Did you go to the custom menu to enable Using Aperture Ring?

Great to know it is sorted out, but did you enable the Aperture Ring in Custom Menu #4? For lenses with the 'A' setting, the custom menu needs to be enabled for you to use the aperture ring with manual lenses.
