K5 simply astonishing...

after upgrading from the *ist D....all I can say is...WOW! All of that, and the thing is built like a tank. Just coming to grips with a FEW of it's capabilities. Astonishing.

And people are complaining about ? Holy smokes...

I still remember when ISO 400 film was considered FAST or HIGH SPEED. Last night I shot at ISO 6400, printed it out this morning, and all I can say is....WOW!!!

Cheers,
Cameron

Some people are like dental technicians, it doesn't matter how hard you try or how much you accomplished, it's not good enough for them.

It really is a superb camera, isn't it? I think it will be remembered as one of Pentax's best of this era. I have had mine for about a year and a half -- it feels so good in the hand and it continues to take super photos (despite the lure of newer models...).

Enjoy!

I felt like a badass, 'real' photographer when I got a k2000 for my bday one year.
Now I have a k-5 and DA* glass and I know better.
The K5 is pretty amazing, especially for the $$, but I still want a k5IIs.......

I've been slowly climbing the Pentax ladder starting with the K100D super. The K-5 is insaaaaaaaaaaaannne. You have so much more play when it comes to the blacks and shadows and going up or down a stop or two on exposure looks freaking clean. You can do some magical stuff in post with this thing.

Dude, I was totally going to say that but I didn't want to sound like too much of a Californian.

A guy I know just got a Nikon D7100 which like the K5IIs has the aa filter removed--the pictures are incredibly sharp--he also has a D7000 which takes great pictures too but since he's gotten that D7100, it has me wanting the K5IIs also --the pictures here that the K5IIs owners have posted are sure tempting me into pulling the trigger....

K-5 is by far best buy for money! It's been that for 2 years now. I really don't see how it's not good enough for some people. There is no better ergonomics in DSLR world and there is no better IQ for the money.
That camera should have special place in Pentax history!

I agree. I have been shooting with K5s now for the last couple of years and they are excellent cameras. Not just image quality, but also ease of use, ergonomics -- it's the whole package.
