Function - X ?
As in custom selected function I'm guessing. The only reason RAW is in the label too is that it is the default functionality.

Raw means fast switching between RAW>RAW+>JEPG
Fx means functions; bracketing, digital preview, digital level, Sensor Shift, GPS.
You can set this button function in first menu page sub menu page 5.

Also, you can read about the various functions that can be assigned to the Fx button in the manual

http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/man-pdf/k-5.pdf

Here, you may consult page 285-286.

Fx is often used as a written shortcut for special effects .... for non-English speakers, pronouncing the two letters F & X in quick succession sounds very close to "effects". Basically it means this button is user programmable to do various things you would otherwise have to go into the menu system to perform.

Thank you so much all you beautiful Pentaxians. I tried to serach on line, but got only one reply - Nikon acronym for Full Frame or FX vs APS-C or DX, even though I specifically mentioned "Fx" - F with small x.
From my poor maths, I understand Fx does stands for "Function" - honestly I just recalled this after reading your replies. Hats of to Kiwi_jono.
I am going to note this down on the K-5 Manual in case I forget - aging grey matter in my idiot box.
Regards.
nanhi - from that far away enchanting land.

PS: Just exercised my democratic responsibility today by casting my vote for the Assembly Elections at the local school - photo attached - K-5 with the 18-135 WR wide open - bought this January in Toronto from Henrys for CAD 1108 - CAD & USD are almost at par. Notice the local policemen & the heavily armed BSF (Border Security Force) - precaution against the well known international terrorist.
