k-5 auto ficus adjustment

My wife says it is my eyes but I think it is the camera. Anyway if I want to adjust my auto focus what type of object should I shoot to use as the subject for the post adjustment testshots. Something that is complex in texture or something simple? I have three lenses - a DA 18-55mm a DA 50-200mm and a DA* 300mm.

Ideally, you should use one of these tools:

Hi resolution test target printed on glossy paper. Use a tripod and remote.

AF fine tuning is not a magic bullet. Often the margin of error in a test is larger than the original error. Without a tightly controlled precise test AF fine tuning is just a great way to mess things up even more.

Set up on a tripod, the camera and target must be perfectly aligned both vertcally and horizontally. If the alignment is off at all you can easily makes worse. Take multiple test shots at least 5 after each change.

I shot a plain cement walkway that had a crack with some grass in it to focus on. I shot wide open at about 5 ft away, and the zone of focus was easy to see.
