k30 to k5iis

There was very good deal on the K5iis so I sold my k30 and bought a K5iis yesterday. I expected the image quality to be very similar when shooting with my da*200 but the raws shot with the K5iis seem to have less contrast than the K30. Has anyone who has shot both had the same impression?

You need to check the default settings for the K-5 IIs. The camera may be set to natural rather than bright, and the contrast values may be different.

Higher dynamic range=less contrast, but that's where PP comes in.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed the difference when I viewed the images in Lightroom. Afaik the preview settings in camera will not affect the images imported into lightroom. I just see the embedded jpg when i review on the lcd screen.

Anyway I noticed that the images taken yesterday seemed back focused and have adjusted today and taken some more shots today that I am about to review. Hopefully there will not be so much of a difference.

I think those are just JPEG processing parameters and hence shouldn't affect the RAW images.

I am not sure how to PP the images. Compared to the k30 images there seems to be less micro contrast/ tonal variation. If I use the clarity slider it just seems to give a overall tonal change with the k5 images whereas when the slider is adjusted on the k30 images it seems to affect sharpness.

It will just take practice with adjusting levels. It took me a while to get used to the jump from the K10 to the K5. If the problem is sharpness, it's probably misfocus, my K5 needs adjustment for all but one of my lenses.
