K5 plus Sigma 50mm

I bought a new K5 two weeks ago to upgrade from the K200d. The K5 is an amazing camera! I have matched it (exclusively) with the Sigma 50mm 1:1.4 EX DG HSM lens. This combo best suits my shooting style and interests; mainly indoor candid stuff. I cannot speak highly enough for this Sigma lens; it is absolutely incredible. For running around indoors in available light, I shoot (RAW) at ISO 3200 in aperture priority (stopped down 1-3 stops) and make a point of filling the frame with the subject matter of interest as much as possible! Filling the frame is the most important element of high-ISO shooting.
This combo is my dream!!!

Yay! Most people find 50mm too long indoors, but perhaps they are not filling the frame :-)

I'm exactly the same as you, I upgraded from a k200 to a k5 three weeks ago and was totally amazed to be sat with the kids in the evening snapping away with a Pentax 50mm 1.4.

It's the colour that blows me away, plus the total control of everything. I always felt there was something wrong with the color balance on the k200 and this has confirmed it

I picked up the same Siggy 50/1.4 for a friend of mine earlier this year on a trip to the states, he also has a K-5. As a result of being the mule, I got to use it on my K-5 for a few days before coming home. It really is a VERY good lens, even if it is quite large and heavy given the focal length and aperture. It's built like a tank. If I didn't already have 3 primes covering the same focal length (see my sig), I would definitely pick one up. I only wish it's little brother 35/1.4 was as good optically as the 50/1.4.
