Entry user - AF questions

Hi,

When the camera didn't find focus I cannot take photos, in that case I need to put the camera in MF and take it. That is normal? Any function to avoid that and can take pictures without focus?

Other question. When I bought the camera I had a used memory and the camera used the number of pictures of the last camera used. How can I restart the # of files to the original taken with the K-5 ?

Thanks in advance.

You don't need to switch to MF all the time. There's a custom function that lets you set the AF priority. In focus priority it won't shoot unless you're in focus. Change it to release priority and you should be fine. Alternatively, you could use AF.C, which defaults to release priority.

Sometimes when the camera is having trouble getting focus, all you need to do is...

1) ...rotate the camera 90deg.
2) ...focus again & lock it
3) ...turn the camera back to its original orientation and finish taking the shot

I have found that if I just release the shutter button and then push half way again it focuses each time and seems faster with the 1.15 firmware update.
