Primary battery pack for K-5 &co

One of grudges I held against K20D is that it took only proprietary batteries and lacked support for primary batteries (without additional battery grip). My wishful thinking was that Pentax or some third party would make a CR2 holder like the Nikon MS-D70.

Now that I have K-5 and have successfully repaired aftermarket battery I thought I might make a CR2 based battery pack my self.

The question is can K-5 handle 9V??
I know it can handle it when supplied from additional battery grip (6xAA). Common sense would suggest that battery grip and battery slot are connected to the same regulator and can both handle same voltage span. But what if not? Has anybody any info on this?
