Happy K-5 owner requests help on EV Comp. Button problem

Just noticed a sticky Ev button on my K-5. Sometimes it does not return to off position so causes havoc when touch the rear e-dial in a crucial moment. Anyone have such a problem? Any home remedies? Thanks in advance,
Earl

Never had that issue on k-5 but on k-x and other cameras there were reports of buttons getting stuck. Some have reported blowing it out with compressed air, or using electric contact cleaner (note please do either of those at your own risk and after proper research).

I had a stuck button on the k-x and fixed it by, with the camera off, repeatedly exercising the button. I assume a bit of grit or dirt got in there and it eventually worked it's way out.

If you are still under warranty you might consider sending it in for cleaning / repair.

I would try "contact cleaner" from Radio Shack or some such. Worked wonders for my balky e-dial.

If the button is physically sticky, it's some crud in the way, or for a more expensive fix that I had on my K10d, a cracked body housing. For physically sticky, I would first turn the camera so that the button is down, blow out with a good blower (not canned!) while repeatedly pushing and releasing. If that doesn't work, get out the magnifying glass.

BTW: the cracked housing happened when I used the camera as a cushion when I fell on some ice. I'm surprised that was the only damage. It took a while for my body to repair the dent the camera made in it.
