Some New Shots From The New K5IIs

First shot, a portrait of Monstro, my Money Maker.

Then a bedtime shot.

Dinner was here.

It snowed all day today. Lunch in Livingston, Montana.

The end of a difficult day in the Fluffy White Stuff. Billings.

So far I am enjoying the camera. The low light performance is great, a real jump from the K10. I expect that with time I will get good at exploiting the features of this great piece of gear.

OK, say goodnight Monstro.

Congratulations for your K-5 IIs acquisition. A capable camera.

I like your Monstro. Interesting. I didn't know that Volvo is making trucks for US.

Thanks!

Riding along in it feels like riding in the belly of the whale, so I named it after the whale in Pinocchio.

Volvo has been making class 8 trucks in the US market since the 1970's. They used to be White Volvo. Then the White line was phased out.

Volvo now owns Mack. Both trucks are manufactured in Dublin, Virginia.

The truck I have is the VN780. Top of the line. The lower bunk (it has upper and lower bunks) makes into a table with a bench seat on either side. There is a refrigerator/freezer, 110 volt inverter, front and rear HVAC, cruise control tilt/telescope steering column, remote keyless entry.

An APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) was added to provide HVAC when the truck is parked, and also provides 110 volt power, keeps the batteries charged, and is piggbacked onto the truck engine cooling system so it is warm and ready to go in the winter without the need to plug into a block heater.

It is comfortable to drive and live in and a far cry from trucks of 15 or 20 years ago.

That Monstro is a mobile motel. Thanks for all this information. I'm quiet surprise that Volvo had acquired Mack, a famous American company.

So, if Mack is owned by Volvo, and Volvo is owned by Geely, who owns Geely.

Volvo also had White. They eventually discontinued the line, much to the chagrin of those who really had a thing for White.

Here is an old White in a boneyard, down in Jean Poitier's home state. (A K10 shot, NOT a K5IIs one)

Those who own the stock?

By the way, the big box on the wagon behind Monstro has two rudders for these (K10 photo, NOT the new K5IIs):

Real tough. I can't imagine how is to carry such a big and valuable cargo around long distances, all by yourself. Usually, in Europe, when they carry aircraft components, they have police and assistance cars all the way.

What aircraft is this? I like that photo. What lens did you use?

It isn't so bad, really. Does have its days, but mostly I just shift gears and keep it pointed in the right direction.

And thank you for the compliment!

The rudders are only a few hundred thousand bucks.

I have moved loads of much higher value.

A cargo door for a 747 is a million dollars, US. I can get 4 of them on a trailer.

I moved 2 connex boxes with 3 UAV's, launch and recovery devices, and ground support equipment. Value? 3 million, US.

The plane in the picture is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, that new mostly composite commercial airliner.

The lens was the DA18-55 WR, set at 18mm.

And thanks for the compliment!

Congratulations on your new camera.

The K5 IIs is the one I'll go for after I put on a few more tens of thousands of pictures on my K20D... I was just thinking about that today… it's a true Pentax gem and the apex of the K5 line, they really seem to have extracted all available juice out of that sensor So, excellent choice! Good luck and happy shooting!

Congratulations on the new camera!

Are oversize loads restricted to daylight hours only in America like they are over here?

You truckers ('truckies' over here) do a great job by the way!
