Sending My K5 in for Focus Screen Repair

Ok I've been trying to cope with a poorly factory calibrated K5 focusing screen for a year now. It actually drove me into the arms of Sony MILC. Frustrated and driven away from using such a beautiful machine I have decided since I won't miss it(because of its near sightedness), tomorrow I am taking it in for warranty repair and see what happens.
Sony is great at what it does but it's not a Pentax DSLR. They are quite a good combo to carry. Wish me luck, I'll keep you posted. (I hope its back before spring has sprung)

If you are using it for manual focus then it would be better to upgrade the screen than just calibrate it. The stock screen is good enough for about f2.8, it is a guessing game at wider apertures. They aren't hard to replace or calibrate.

The screen is just fine in the k5. I have absolutly no problems manually focusing my kx and my recently sold k20d with a pentax k 1.2/50.
I have Ground and shimmed my Kx Focus screen..... Didn't need to adjust k20d . I feel there is no reason why a $1000 semi pro camera should come so poorly calibrated for manual focus from the factory that it's even front focusing at f4. No need to upgrade the screen because I shoot mostly in dark clubs and macro so way to dark to see through.

That sucks. I've had five Pentax dslrs and have never had focus screen issues.
