Second battery recommendations?

Hi,

When I got my K20D about 3 or 4 years ago, the original owner gave me 2 batteries: The original one and a second battery with no markings. It only says "For Pentax". It turns out it has worked pretty well.
Now that I got my K5II, a second battery is not only convenient, but a must.
Any recommendations? I see several options out there......

Thanks,

Wasabi Power seems like a great option. Much more pricey than generic batteries but they seem to have a good reputation.

If you plan on making extensive use of the second battery, I'd go with the OEM option. But there are also good third-party alternatives out there, as well as no-so-good ones. Be sure to check reviews first if you're buying a third-party battery.

How about a genuine Pentax battery and a third-party battery grip? Battery Grip For Pentax K7 K-7 DSRL D-BG4 - Newegg.com (I have the grip and it works well - exact replica of the Pentax grip, but in slightly cheaper plastic and no WR (as if that would matter in all but the strongest rain or snow)).

Get a Wasabi kit with two batteries and a travel charger for $26.99. I have been using the same kit for over two years and I can't tell the difference between OEM and Wasabi battery while in use. I love the Wasabi charger so much I hardly use the OEM charger anymore, it plug straight into the socket vs having to use a cord. It also includes a car adaptor to top it off. Good to find this thread. I just received an OEM Pentax grip for my K-5IIS that I got on ebay. The seller included a Wasabi charger and two Wasabi batteries. The deal on the grip was great without them, but it is good to know they have a good reputation.

Congrats, I was about to bid on that for my future K5 iis ( I already have one on my k5ii) but decided last minute not to. You got a pretty good deal if you ask me. Enjoy!

I bought this Battery Grip for my K5II, didnīt want to spend $200 in this accesorie, for about 3 months I had used sometimes with a 2 Pack Wasaby Battery, very satisfied with my purchase, not problem at all.

The only cons with battery grip, it seems is not weather sealed as original, but $46 against $200 I think is a good deal !!

I have a Hahnel replacement battery. Works just as well as the Pentax one.
