Electronic Level K-5 ii

When activated, the level on the K-5 ii replaces the exposure meter in both the viewfinder and the top LCD. However, this shows only the horizontal movement of the camera, and not the vertical movement.

The only way I can figure out how to show this is in Live View. Am I missing something, or am I stuck with using live view for vertical adjustments forever?

Stop and think how often you would need to use exact vertical alignment. AFAIC It is rare, due to usually needing to compose the photo off level vertically to achieve effect, where as having the composure horizontally aligned straight is needed a majority of the time. So for the rare occasion you need both completely level than that option is available in live view.

I'm pretty sure the full level is shown on the LCD, Live-view or not.

I guess it is, if you hit info a few times. Then its ONLY the level on the screen though. So in that case live view is probably better.

I'll agree with Oldbayrunner that it is fairly rare that you really need the vertically level indicator. The most common usage is probably for distortion control when using an ultrawide lens. When I've got my Sigma 10-20 on and cranked out to 10mm, just a little out of level can create an "interesting" effect. Too far out is too far out (an old sixties expression for the youth in the group).
