k5 ?

Hi , i could buy a mint K5 ( only has 3000 shots) +18-135WR + 35mm f2.4 for 570$ .
On the other side is a new K30 for 550$ , this comes with 18-55mm.
Are the lenses that come with the K5 worth it ?
Is the difference is size between K5 and K3 big ?

Yes, the 18-135 on its own sells for over $300 used. The 18-55 is about $50. The 35mm for roughly $200, less used.

No big size difference, the K5 is heavier and probably a bit more rugged.

That's a great deal.

Go For It!

Hello Kurt1968, Welcome to the Forum!
Terry's right, in addition to the K-5 deal being better because of the price/value, it's a better start-up kit.
The K-30 deal is a better-than-average midrange body with the least-expensive kit lens.
The K-5 set is the previous flagship body with a much better kit lens (18-135 vs 18-55mm and sharper overall) and an excellent short prime lens.
Grab it and have fun shooting!

have a look at my Flickr site to see how I use the K5. On the stream now are pictures from the dog park with the K5/18-135 combo and if you dig into the sets you'll see other images with different lenses.

I have no issues with autofocus - but I've never played with the $5000+ systems....
I have used my nephew's Pro-grade Nikon but only with a 50mm portrait type lens or short zoom and it's not significantly better indoors than the K5. He's a better people photographer than I am, but he does think the K5 is cool. Using it with my old M-series lenses really gets him excited.

You can't really compare the EPM2 to a full DSLR. You can use the K5 or K30 in live view, lock focus (hopefully) and snap pictures. Better still, use the OVF and back button focus with APS-C to track. The 18-135 is a very good lens for this, much better than the others I have. The focus motor is super smooth and silent.

I don't mean to dismiss the 4/3 systems, they're good for what they are, and I have a Q which I like for casual use. But it's not the same as a DSLR with good OVF and quick FPS capture, that's for sure!

The K5 kit at that price is an awesome deal. Why have you not already picked it up before the person changes their mind?
