K-5 and PC flash issues

Hello Everyone,

I am having alot of trouble getting my K-5 to send a flash signal through the PC remote, without using the built in flash, or external flash mounted on the hotshoe at the same time. I would like to be able to not have to have frontal lighting. I just got a new lighting kit, and the issue seems to be in the K-5, not the flash kit. does anyone know what I am doing incorrectly?

Thank you,

Are you using the X exposure mode setting?

That may not be absolutely required, but setting the camera to X will ensure that the shutter speed doesn't exceed the flash sync speed of 1/180s. One thing less to worry about.

Just tried that, no difference, I still need to have the built in flash or an external flash in the hotshoe.....

I have used the PC connection directly connected to Elinchrom D-Lite with no problems. Can you give us the complete set up you are using?

PC cables are notoriously temperamental.
Calumet used to sell a little tool for squeezing the PC conector to ensure good contact.
The other option is to always carry multiple spare cables
