I think the attempt at powering it up was too soon.
If there is still moisture on any of the circuit boards you might cause a short across points that are not supposed to be connected.
Personally I would wait a long time until I was sure it was completely dry inside, then maybe wait an extra week after that.
Just to make sure I didn't fry anything.
+1
3 or 4 days minimum. Always completely opened and replacing the rice and silica if neccesary

Once I get home I'll be a little less itchy. I was just so impressed with the progress I couldn't help but think I could have it back in use before vacation was over. Its back in its bed of rice, I'll air out again in the morning. Once back I'll drown in a box of silica packets and dust it off a week before whatever the next event is (in case I have to buy a replacement at last second.)

The K-5 lives... taking some test shots, looks good so far. I moved it from the rice and had it sitting in silica packets for the past couple of days up in the attic by a window. Reset time and date, other settings seemed to be intact. No other glitches. Might need a cleaning.

The lens, well, still drying out. Will definitely need a cleaning.
