K-5 II question - bounce flash

For about a year, I had a K-5, which was great, except for one problem - as is widely noted, bounce flash exposure was very erratic in TTL mode. As a result, I went back to Nikon. I'd still like to get back to Pentax, - especially for the in camera stabilization feature, if the bounce flash problem is solved. It seems clear that there is no problem on the new K-3, and I've seen a few reports that there has been a firmware update to the K-5 II that resolves the problem on that camera. I'd be interested to know what current K-5 II owners are finding when using bounce flash.

Thanks.

I've had a K5 IIs since December. I've shot 283 frames using flash, about half of which were bounced using AF 540 FGZ. I have no over exposures. Not having experienced the issues those with the K5 suffered, I wouldn't pronounce it cured, but I can say it has yet to be a problem for me.

Regards

From what I know, the overexposure is due to a hardware issue. The k3 has an entirely new metering system, and that's why it doesn't have the bug.

Indoor events with either K5 or K5Iis, camera is manual exposure, Pentax 540 in P-TTL and flagged with "the black foamy thing" . Typically, I set - .5 to -1 EV on flash, sort of depends on ceiling color and height.

This was just about all bounced flash Birthday Party

With my K-5 I use a Metz 58-AF 2 and use the flash's meter instead of the Pentax TTL. Problem solved.

Thanks, everyone - it looks like not using TTL is the answer with the K-5 II.
