It is a large upgrade. I went from K-x to K-30 to K-5II and, in hindsight, should have just went K-x to K-5II. The K-3 would be nice, but I'd rather spend the extra on lenses instead. It is nice to have weather sealing just in case you ever get caught in bad weather (and are using a sealed lens).
You'll notice though that the K-5II is noticeably heavier but it is also much more solid and weather sealed. The top side LCD panel has been really usable too - to the point I'm sure I'd have difficulty without it now. The burst rate is almost double too..
I actually miss the K-x some for it's light weight and smallness... very portable dslr!
