| Just bought a K5, should I be worried?
After happily buying a 2nd hand K5 in Japan in my last holidays a week ago not even, and use the body for one single day very happily I came to the spanish forum (Pentaxeros.com) and read in the K5 section that many K5's have had problems, mirror problems, sensor issues, and even they just "die" and do not take any more pictures, And so, I am worried about my camera. I thought I was buying a bargain, and a great piece of camera, much better than my skills nowadays (I am a Kr user and was a K110D user before), and felt quite happy with my little new friend. So I wanted to ask you guys, about this camera issues and if you overhall are happy with the K5 or if I might have done a mistake by buying a copy. Thank you for your comments and opinions  | |

I really was getting nervous as even I bought it cheap, I might like my K5 to last as I have read all around it is a beast of a camera and I thougt would be a great idea to get a copy. | |

The K-5 is a good camera. The number that had problems in the early days of production was pretty small compared to those that had no issues. You've got the camera now, and it's working - so just use it, enjoy it and don't worry about it | |

Anyway yes, i will try to get the best of my "new" camera as I believe it's an impressive model | |

I seriously don't know what's going on over at your Spanish forum. feel the K-5 is on par with the K-1000, or the OM-1 or the Canon F1 or Nikon F in terms of 'best made'? I do agree that Pentax is producing some of the best made DSLRs on the market at present and virtually nothing compares in their price range. But I am dubious about ANY modern DSLR in the long term. Modern DSLR are far more complex and the systems they're built around are changing fast, equating to a higher likelihood of failure and/or obsolescence. Only time will tell whether the K-5, or any DSLR, is still being used 10, 20, even 40 years from now. | |
