K5 Meter

Hi guys, yesterday i noticed that my pentax k5 doesn't show the exposure metering in the top lcd nor the viewfinder when i'm using a M lens in manual mode. I didn't remember if always have been the same way, but i find it very annoying. Can't find in the menu a setting to enable it, and i don't have the manual with me right now. Can someone help me? thanks.

The only bit of information that is missing on my top and viewfinder screens is the aperture value, which the camera can't know. Shutter speed varies with the light source, and I can over or under-expose if I lock the shutter speed.

Yes, this is how it works.

The camera has no idea what aperture you set on the lens so it can't calculate exposure.
But if you stop down the lens using "optical preview" lever you will see the metering scale, as with a stopped down aperture the camera can calculate exposure.
