K-5 IIs Discontinued

According to B&H, the K-5 IIs is now discontinued. Better grab yours now before they're gone!

One of the great cameras IMHO.

Still available at Adorama as of the time of this post.

BTW...B&H is famous for listing things as discontinued when they are not able to reliably source for backorder and then magically listing them again when they get stock.

I didn't know that, thanks! Now that I'm looking at DP Review, it seems last year B&H did the same exact thing with this camera. Ugh. Apologies for perpetuating this un-truth!

It might not be far from the truth this time, I'm afraid. The camera shop that sells Pentax here told me the K-5 II is "in short supply". Now whether that applies to the K-5 IIs as well, or if the stock has only dried up here as well...

Great camera!

I guess K-3 will follow it too.

The Australian Pentax site doesn't list either of the KIIs as available. But it does list the K500 which has been discontinued for months!!

I was told the same (in short supply - buy it now...) last week when I grabbed my new K-5 II

[EDIT]
Just to be more precise: this was told to me by the Hungarian official Pentax dealer

...on the other hand, both K5IIs are available for sale on the US web site. Go figure.

The K-5 IIs has been listed as discontinued at some Japanese retailers for a week or two now. It's only natural, because it's an old camera by now but if you specifically want that sensor, this might be the last chance to get it.

You won't regret it. When the K 3 came out, I decided what I was looking for was an improved K -5, in other words the K5 IIs.

I'm sure it's about time a replacement is issued, anyway. Something like a K-3 with the K-S1 sensor would make a great replacement. Then follow up with a K-3 II with refinements and improvements to fight off the Samsung NX1 and Canon 7D II.

I think this clears the way for a K-50 successor that incorporate more of the K-3 technology and then a K-3 successor with a few new features. Along with the K-S1, that would make quite a coherent APS-C line up.
