My K5 is partially dead.

It will no longer work with any manual lenses. Or if I take a lens off of the A setting. Also, live view doesn't work with manual lenses either. Any of my newer lenses like my Sigma 17-70 of Pentax 12-24 work fine. Just manual lenses or lenses in manual mode. Very sad.

In the costume settings menu check the Use aperture ring option. It should be turned on for manual lenses. (The deafult is off)

Time for an upgrade to a K-3 or K-3II.

DOH!!!!!!!!!!! I did reset to default the other day and forgot about that one. Thank you. I will now slink back into my cave.

Glad it all worked out... the reason that it works with auto-focus lenses is a BIG tip-off that it is a matter of incorrect setting...
