Viewing vertical shots vertically

I recently upgraded from a K-7 to a K-5 II. On the K-7, after taking a shot in portrait orientation, I could view it full screen by holding the camera sideways and jiggling it until it switched to full-screen view.

On my K-5 II, that doesn't happen. I see the menu option to not store orientation metadata, but I don't want that. I see the menu option to ALWAYS display full screen, but that isn't really what I want either. I don't see any other relevant options in the menu. It reports firmware version 1.07.

Is it possible to make it do what the K-7 did?

Thanks,

Greg

I agree that the K7 worked better for vertical playback. On the K-5 during playback hit [menu] and scroll down to [Auto image rotation] and uncheck it. That will make portrait images playback oriented as they were shot and full screen.

Thanks, I had found that menu setting and I'm using it; it always displays full screen regardless of orientation, like earlier cameras that had no orientation sensor. Strange that they removed the ability that the K-7 had though.

It seems each upgrade has strange omissions. I still miss the ability my 2003 *ist D had to let me set it to not take shots when no card was inserted. With the K-7 and now the K-5 II, every now and then I take several shots looking through the viewfinder before noticing that the back screen is telling me that no card is installed. With the *ist D, with that menu setting turned on, it would refuse to take the shot, so I'd realize the problem right away.
