The WR version of the 18-55 is improved over the 18-55 but it isn't a superb wide angle lens - serviceable but not stunning. (This is because the WR is based on the series II which was a moderate improvement on the series 1.) Series 1 was generally thought of as a good 18-55 kit compared to other manufacturers.

I've owned the K5 original and now have the K5IIs. I find the K5IIs to be amazingly better. It is the best Pentax I have ever owned.

Regards!

Sadly, the K-5 IIs is still priced high on used market, I finally bought a K-5 II bundled with a 18-55 AL ED WR lens for 410 euro incl. shipping with 8800 actuations, bought sept. 2014, with original invoice, 1st hand. I take it as a good deal considering its price as new Ok I still have the AA filter but I won't own 700 euro expert lenses so it's yet a great upgrade from a K200D (that I shall keep as a special conditions shots).

Got it today, boxed, all accessories, not a single tiny scratch, mint condition, with invoice, user manual like new... great seller and deal Did some tests with my SMC 135, much better ergonomy and fast access to main options, much more configuration options for user interface than on the K200D too, great when using manual lenses. I have approximatively same noise at ISO 1600 than on my K200D at ISO 200

Believe me, you'll enjoy your k-5II. I have one and also got a k-3II this september. I love both cameras. At times I really find it difficult to choose which camera to use.
