I have a Pentax K5 and purchased a 64GB SDXC U3 card but the camera will not accept the card. How can I rectify this

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on the k-5. Is the card UHS-I or UHS-II bus speed?

Yes, check your firmware, should be 1.16. I think if you hold the menu button when turning it on it will show it's version. Here's the link for the upgrade
Latest K-5 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING
I have a K-5, I put a 32 GB SDHX card in it and according to this page:
Pentax K-5 - Pentax K-mount DSLRs - Pentax Camera Reviews and Specifications
That is the max size it will take. I have heard people using a 64 GB with success, so I think this page is in error.
Good luck.

Yup, just update the firmware using a compatible card (i.e. SD or SDHC, <= 32Gb). Here are instructions and a download link:

Try formatting the card in camera (via the setup / wrench menu).

I did but it says card error. Could it be because the card was an micro SD card with a SD adapter?

Micro SD's use the same standards, so it should work. You could also try formatting on your desktop, ensuring that the partition is set to exFAT.

K-3 and Lexar vs. Sony flash memory cards.

Given the choice of:
Lexar Professional SDXC 128 GB 400x Class 10 UHS-I card
and
Sony SDXC 128 GB 30 MB/s Class 10 UHS-I card
which one of the above would you use in a K-3 camera?
The question is speed (when shooting stills) and reliability (in general).
