But neither the dogs nor the kids are on bicycles. Are we sure these are valid tests?

Mark, you missed a couple of shots at the end of the sequence - the stretcher bearers carrying the goalie off!

But when I post bicycle race pix, the criticism is "Oh - you could just be focussing in one place and of course they'll be in focus"

Yeah Rod. He was dedicated, for sure! Good to see a goalie work as hard as this one.

I hope the lad in red-and-blue isn't related to you, Mark ... he continues to try and kick the ball even when it's clear the keeper has it covered. You read about these fights that happen between parents who come running on the ground after an incident!

Last shot - nice instep (kick) pass. He's totally focused on his circle of control. Good coaching there.

Mark, I haven't spent much effort on tracking and autofocus.
Had some spare time and instead of following posts on PF, I went down to the railway line and took a few pics.

(It wasn't very scientific but I seem to have the same problem as you! And like you, my K5 and 18-135 is out of warranty; so I'm stuck with it!)

Eleven pics of a train coming towards me and I couldn't get even one out of focus.
What am I doing wrong?

Her are a couple of samples - consecutive shots.

As a football/soccer referee, I would have awarded the white team a direct free kick, or advantage if the keeper was going fast and was going to kick the ball straight-away.
