On the bottom of the K-5 IIs . . .

There is a port that is apparently used to connecting a battery grip. Should there be a cover for that port when a battery grip is not in use?

The manual doesn't seem to say anything about it.

your battery grip, if you get one, has a place to store it, if you attach it to the camera.

if you don't have the cover, perhaps you could try covering it with gaffer tape???

Here's some photos from a K-5 and a K-3, showing the port with and without the rubber cover.

Mine currently looks like the bottom one.

I have reached out to Pentax to see if I can get the "hatch cover" from them.

Cheers, Jock
