Does anybody know if you can get an 85mm lens for the K5? I have noticed on the Pentax website there is a 70mm lens - would this be comparable to an 85mm? I am into kid/portrait photography and looking for a lens where I can capture more Nat/playing shots without being right in their face. Any other suggestions/recommendations on other lenses for this also greatly appreciated.

Thanks
I use the DA 70mm f/2.4 exactly for that purpose. With excellent results. Can the smc version can be had for around €300.

I can certainly recommend my “Sweetheart” Pentax-A*85mm F1.4

Btw the Sigma 17-70mm C (which i also have) is also a good allround option, but imo the DA70 is better for portraits: fast n accurate af, very sharp, nice colors, good bokeh, subject-background separation.

I see prices dropping on these (in my country) - just pondering if it's really worth it ... or should keep the money aside for the next APS-C flagship

Like others said, there is no new 85mm from Pentax available.

Have you checked out the different lens clubs? This might help you in deciding what lens to get.
Things like bokeh can be very personal, in terms of if you like the look.

If you're looking for new I would go for the DA70 or FA77 if you want a true Pentax.

I have always thought that bodies come and go... but good glass is for ever, so in answer to your question IMHO absolutely.

That's a great wisdom That 85mm does look lovely - I am jealous now. I looked at the other forum post and those pictures are really impressive. Hopefully some people will start selling theirs in favour of the HD Pentax-D FA* 85mm F1.4 ... bringing down the price. There is a local shop that sells a Pentax Pentax-M 85mm f/2 for about 15% of the A* ... might go for that in the meantime. Seems to get some love on the forum here.

Now... I may be a tad bias, but IMHO it's only 15% of the A*.

Hi, wasn't looking at buying one from this forum, I just wanted information regarding the 85mm lens and if Pentax had one or if anybody knew of comparable lenses for the K5.
Thanks for the link on where to post though when I am ready at looking at getting a new lens.
When will you be ready for getting a new lens?

I have a Samyang F1.4 85 mm lens that I have had for about 3 years. I just got a K5iis and I will be posting photos using that combo. I originally bought it to use with my K200D, but lost those photos when My comp fried .
