Auto ISO in M ?

I thought i saw an option for Auto ISO in Manual Mode mentioned somewhere but can't seem to find a way to enable it.

I don't think this has been supported on any Pentax camera since before I bought my K10D in 2006. Auto ISO for M modes is disabled on flagship models and defaults over silently to TAv mode on other models.

In case you're asking about manual lenses ("K" or "M") you can have auto-ISO, but the camera will only shoot wide open (in all modes: M, TAv, P, etc). The green button does nothing. With manual ISO, the green button performs a stop-down metering, and the lens will stop down during the exposurer to whatever you have set on the aperture ring. Just tried it with my K-50 and K 50.

In TAV mode you set shutter speed and aperture and the camera chooses ISO. Is that what you mean?

Yup, just switch to TAv on the mode dial. On certain cameras like the K-01, TAv is baked into M mode, but is effectively the same thing.

Well yes, it does. Never used TAv , had to look it up. (Only Pentax has TAv)

My camera practically lives in TAv mode.

Seems likely it will be optimal (mostly) for me too.

Yup, that is how I fequently use my K-01. Too bad exposure compensation is not available, though.

Indeed, no auto ISO in M mode, but TAv works like a charm (on my K-50 at least)

No auto ISO in M mode on my K-5 either, but TAv mode works great! You just have to remember to set the Range of Automatic Sensitivity Correction first to ensure the camera has enough leeway to make the ISO adjustment to match your shutter speed and aperture settings.

Another TAv dweller

I'm another who lives in TAv mode. To me, it's like M but with a built-in, hand-held light meter.

Unfortunately we are not able to set MIN/MAX values for anything else but ISO..

It will be nice to be able to set that minimum shutter speed is xxx, maximum is xxx. And that aperture range is xxx to xxx. For any mode P/Tv/Av/TAV/Sv... and minimum shutter speed when flash is engaged.

While we are at it, it would be nice to set min/max focus distance as well as min/max for auto-EC.
