The only "extra" thing you have to do when using them is to tell the camera the focal length (it prompts you when you turn it on). This is to enable proper functioning of the SR system. BTW, I highly recommend the ZK's. Other than the 18 and 25, they are nothing short of sublime, and there is supposed to be a re-worked 25 coming out this year.
As far as that rumored 35/1.4, Zeiss has publicly stated that it will not happen this year. There is some evidence that the mention of that lens was merely a typo. Even if it does happen, there's definitely no guarantee that it will be preferable to the current 35/2, a universally acclaimed lens. Many, in fact, consider it to be the best 35 ever made. For instance, the current 50/2 is almost always considered superior to the current 50/1.4, other than in size and price. The excitement over a 35/1.4 arose because of nostalgia about a historical 35/1.4 that was much-loved.
