I've been able to find preliminary listings for the k-5 mainly with $poa but not any listings for the k-r....

I just checked Adorama, and there is no "out of stock" disclaimer on the K-r. They do show K-5 as out of stock though. I wonder if they really have the K-r.
Hehe, interesting to watch, isn't it? Seems that both Adorama and B&H are frantically downplaying their focus on all K-x combos.

Likewise K-7 stocks appear to be attracting throwout-bin level discount price tickets too.

Today I went to TOP Camera in Nagoya, but no K-r nor K-5.
- That means there were empty bodies of the K-r and information on both K-r and K-5

I'm curious, where have you seen the K-7 discounts? I'm still seeing about $850 USD body only at most places and down to $700 on the used market.

Just called Adorama. No stock for the k-r and no idea when they're coming in.

Well, RRP of K-5 is $1600, why should they make discounts for K-7 which is only half of K-5's RRP?

True, I was probably mainly referring to observations on my local, and the world market there, and then over a period of recent months too where the tag of K7 has slowly but surely spiralled down (to where it has even caught my eye as a possible upgrade option, so must be cheap-cheap!).

Although like you say, in general many retailers are still clinging to wring the most they can out of the dying horse. Incl both Ado and B&H who are still close to USD900 (not that either are serious slash discounters anyway but they do produce rare [very] short lived bargains like the recent B&H K-x twin-pack @ < USD630 -- me watching 24/7 to see if same happens with a K7 deal, maybe...).

K-5 and K-r slated to arrive in Singapore next week, just in time for our regular monthly Pentax photo outings. Keeping our fingers crossed over here.

B&H Photo (B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders) shows arrival October. Interesting about Adorama. My pre-order through Amazon still shows that it is not available however.

That's interesting, the ad above shows the K-r with custom colors like the K-x. No doubt Japan will get them first, but if that's any indication we might be getting more down the road than black, white and red for the K-r. Who knows? I might just be able to get me a brightly colored K-r when the time comes after all, grin...

I was looking at the Kr on Adorama earlier, and when I put it in the cart, it said "preorder." I don't think they have it yet.
