I bet the noise would be more pronounced in tungsten environment which is rather typical for the need of high iso.
I got the impression that these shots where taken under artificiall light, be it tungsten or florecent I dont know.

Wouldn't that be a Pentax suicide to have the "little brother" perform as well as "Big Brother" ?
The K-5 is a higher level of body: Weather-resistance, switches instead of menus, dual wheels, tougher construction, higher resolution, battery grip, pentaprism, lens-specific AF adjustment, faster fps, etc. That's more than enough to account for the price difference IMO.

I was under the impression that a brighter shot actually helped you control noise, because you can darken the image in post?

Some $5500 extra, 2 pounds extra weight, and very much same noise performance. Bring on those limiteds!

That's nice and I like the lipstick pink actually though I'd still take the green or the purple first I think. I'm still going to end up with a K-x. I just don't think I want to wait till I could actually save up for one of these. Not at $800 just for a body. But I wouldn't mind one, that's for sure.

thrilling times!

i am thrilled to see the excellent results at iso 3200. i am excited to hear about improved auto focus.

on the (+) side: what great times we live in! cameras are improving by leaps and bounds every year.

on the (-) side: technology is changing so fast that my camera is "outdated" so quickly!

what fun to dream about all the cool new cameras coming along (pentax k-r, fuji x100, etc). in another couple of years the prices will come down to a point where i can actually afford some of this technology.

It won't no crop camera will have low noise like FF, these look great though but I am waiting for some K-5 samples, what I think though is the K-5 will have similar noise levels as the 7D.

It's not outdated, it's still take photo that in 98 % of the time, it will be perfect. Dont forget that most photo are view on computer screen or printed on 4x6.

I fell Off My Chair !

This is just outstanding high ISO performance, it knocks every other Pentax DSLR off the map.

I'm amazed at the performance, what a sensor !
