Does AF works while making a movie in Pentax K-r?

No. You can pre focus with auto focus, but during shooting video, you can only manual focus.

I think this is the same for most dslrs, even the vaunted T2i which makes amazing video.

The new nikon d3100 has continous AF for video, but supposedly it really doesnt work very well in practice. I think with video you are safest using manual focus, it would look pretty bad to have hunting AF in video

T2i can autofocus during videos, but it is slow as hell and loud as hell.

All professional videos use manual focus, anyway, to get it exactly where you want. They do have focus pullers and plan out everything, however.

I can confirm. I was using Canon 550d/T2i yesterday. Quality of movies is wonderful but AF is terrible. If you move camera to other point, AF drives through all range and slowly focusing in small steps finally.
Manual focusing is better idea.

I am still looking for "my perfect" camera, reading tests and reviews. But now K-r is my best candidate. Now I'm choosing "my perfect" lens (:

May you please give me advice?
I would really appreciate it.
