Keep in mind that site has compressed pictures and deleted exif. By the way, have you ever seen so many k-5's?

I am honestly slightly surprised how noisy those 6400 and 12800 shots are.

But all the shots are in super bad lighting and underexposed so it's really hard to tell anything.

How can you be so sure? You have any idea of what was done after the pictures were taken?

I'll reserve judgement till after a reputable (like DXO) site has done some testing.

You really trust DXO with any camera other than Nikon or Canon?

Well seeing how the Kx and Kr are 20 and 21, respectively, yes, I do. If they truly didn't care about Pentax they simply wouldn't review them. Also they wouldn't rank a $500 camera about many other higher priced CaNikons.

It looks not bad at all actually.

Whether this is because of the proper exposure or not, I would be tempted to say that those images, JPEG's at that, at quite acceptable at the higher ISO's.

Have you any RAW tests?

High ISO JPEG out of camera, if you must use them, have to be on Strong NR, otherwise they look ugly.

K-R/ K-X is no different, just that the bar has been pushed up 1 to 2 stops.
Even the 7D, yesterday's High-ISO APS-C leader, doesn't look good with OOC JPEG at ISO6400.

Most of the wondrous High-ISO shots you see from the latest bunch of Pentax cameras were taken RAW and processed through NR software. And they DO clean up beautifully.

Well, here's a quick RAW comparison test between the K-r, K-x and K-7 from DxO. They haven't done the K-5 yet. High ISO results for the K-r are just a bit suprising to me.

Looking at the detailed dXOmark graphs, and not just the one-liner ratings, I have difficulty seeing any daylight between the K-X and the K-R.
Both of them are, of course, significantly better than the K-7 in most departments.

The K-R basically kept the K-X's Image Quality, but improved in many other areas of usage - AF speed, Video, FPS, HDR, NR customability, AF adjust menu, etc.
