HELP Old lens stuck on new K-r!

Hey All,

Just recieved a K1000 for my wife with a 50mm f2 and and old 70-200 that fit the k1000 as well.

I wanted to try the old film lenses on my k-r. The 50 fit and worked great. The 70-200 (same mount) also fit and clicked (and it works) but now I cannot remove it!!!!

HELP! Is there some feature or button of older lenses i dont know about that I need to press?

I sure hope I havent somehow messed up my new (finally good copy) k-r!!

Search here / Internet for 'Ricoh pin'; this could be the cause of your problem.

Had the same ricoh pin problem with a K10. I inserted a thin metal feeler gauge while lightly turning the lens. the pin was released and off popped the lens.

How in the world did you get two bad K-rs?
well, never mind that, vast majority of lenses won't do any damage to your camera, you must have really bad luck.
I wouldn't try to force anything out, but I heard about some cases which the lens did come out while playing with the MF/AF switch, you should search for that

Toggling the body switch to between AF/MF while twisting the lens might work. The problem is that this pin enters the AF shaft cavity and gets stuck at the edge. The tip of the shaft is spring loaded, and in MF the tip is retracted, in AF it is about level with the mount edge; moving the tip like this might be enough to help the pin past the edge. If this doesn't help, inserting a thin feeler gauge (0.05mm) at the shaft position has reportedly worked; with this the pin moves over the edge on the surface of the gauge blade.

I dont need this POS lens either. if there is some easy way to get this crap off by destroying the lens but keeping the camera intact fine with me...

Gauges are at hardware or car parts stores. You could try a thin piece of hard plastic, the kind that sd cards etc are packaged in. Even a strip cut from a plastic milk carton might work. The plastic deforms and may slide under the pin with a bit of pressure/wiggling

Just keep trying, it's been well documented here that it's possible to get it off without destroying the lens, even though some have done so. Good luck.

Be sure to combine those if you can, that is, try to twist while manipulating the switch (?).

Hardware stores and other places that sell tools have them (they are inexpensive and the cheapest one should do it).

I can relate to that :-(

Dismantling the lens would get it off, unfortunatlely doing that in a non-violent way is not possible as long as the screw heads on the mount flange are inacessible.

the windshield wipers got inside a litle metal that you could use..maybe your car needs new ones XD...
they are inside the rubber..if you have no time to buy at hardware store try those..
(and dont destroy a lens!!..next time you see a KR lens be sure to remove the pin..).
hard luck mate..hope you fix it soon.

thanks for the advice guys.

I found a repair place that can hopefully fix it and get it back to me before xmas.

Its prob gonna cost me another $100 tho... FML

Last thing I want to do now is damage anything so best to bring it to a technician, who fyi advised agaisnt some methods mentioned to avoid possible damage to the mount or contacts.

Gee whiz maybe these are signs I should switch to some other hobby!! lol

Jeepers, save your money and spend $5 on a feeler gauge set - easy as pie to get the lens off. OR..........

I've actually had a couple stick on and just twisted the he!! out of the lens and it popped right off - didn't even need the gauge.

I tried twisting pretty hard with no success, didnt really want to twist much harder afraid to .

Im sure the gauge would work but after the headaches ive had I just want to make sure everything will be 100% for the holidays without me effing anything up by accident (again). I cant imagine it taking him much time to fix, so hopefully wont be too expensive
