OK, Here's the question. How does the kit lens for my k10d compare to the kit lens for the K-r?

The optical formula is the same. The DA-L version has a plastic mount, no hood and no quick-shift. You might find small differences in test photos due to sample variation.

Check kit prices too. I bought a K-R kit for less than the body price.

The DAL kit is said to have the same optical formula as the ver II of the 18-55 kit. Which said to be better than the ver 1.

Not sure if the diff is marginal, but if you have the ver 1, I suggest to research more.

My K10D came with the AL II version in a seperate box; it's however my understanding that not every K10D came with that lens. Just check; the II version has a clearly marked II on it (in red

).

yeah. I did see a couple of stores where the kit was cheaper than the body alone.

I'll postpone my purchase until after first of the year hoping prices come down a little.
