remote flash question

I have Interfit studio flash lights and I am using the hot shoe and a wire to connect them to my camera. However, when I trigger the flash from my camera, the flash won't then go off again (being triggered by the camera) until I press the "test" button on my lights.
I know my lights are not the problem because I used my friend's Pentax Kr with my lights and it worked every time without me pressing the test button.

Can you help please?

Are you saying it goes off once, but then won't go off again until you hit the test button on the strobe?

Standard lighting advice: Make sure the shutter speed is at or below 1/180th.
