Pentax k-r - My little Test

Hi, i'm newbie.

I'm italian and first of all I apologize for my English .

I bought yesterd my first reflex, a Pentax k-r .

I do a little test for the front focus problem.

My test with:

T: 1.3sec
F: 5.6
Shake Reduction OFF
K-R supported on a Table
Tungsten Light
Kit Lens : 18-55

This is the starter image:

ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

I make 3 shots with different AF adjustment

AF Adjustment 0:

AF Adjustment -5:

AF Adjustment -10:

I think that my camera, with this lens, is ok.
But this is my first camera.

What do you think about ?

I prefer to look at some more inspiring images than those of a empty box because someone did a ridiculus test.

Congrats on the camera.

If you really want to evaluate and adjust the focus I'd get this:

LensAlign MkII: Michael Tapes Design - LensAlign - WhiBal - IJFR - Michael Tapes: photo news and commentary

I got one because I have a K-5 and over a dozen lenses I use on it, so it's worth it. The K-5 will remember the setting for each AF lens.

But, at $80, this tool costs a little bit more than the 18-55 kit lens itself, so it might not be worth it for you. It looks like your lens is close to correct from the factory, but it's hard to tell exactly with just these shots.

You can also try this for free:

Nikon D70 Focus Chart

However, for me (especially since I have so many lenses) the free chart takes more time and still gives less accurate results.

I also bought the LensAlign unit, and I have used it for the kit lens so far (have others to try, as well as various white balance settings other than the AWB I used, and it made it fairly easy to determine what adjustment was needed. While I wasn't too sure I wanted to spend the money, I did want to verify and adjust the setting it it was needed, so decided I wanted an accurate way to tell rather than just guessing or relying on what I THOUGHT was the proper correction.
