Battery help needed

Hello Everyone,
I just recently bought a Kr (received it on 1-11-11) and preordered a Sigma 610 super flash. I will be getting the aa battery adapter for the Kr. What rechargable battery works best in the camera and which one works best with the flash?

Sanyo Eneloops would be the thing for the camera. Flashes might be less dicerning and generic variety NIMHs probably work just fine. OTOH low-self discharge may be desirable with them too, also the Eneloops would seem to excel in supplying high currents and this might translate to faster cycle times.

The theory is that the voltage drop with high current draw is not as much with the Eneloops as with most other NIMHs. This suits Pentax cameras which more or less take the battery voltage as an indicator of remaining charge; a set of higher capacity NIMHs might in fact have energy left in them at the point when the camera considers their voltage too low to operate reliably and so Eneloops tend to give more shots than the generic higher capacity NIMHs. As the Eneloops are not much more expensive than the typical NIMHs, they are worth getting if just to avoid hassle.

if u are asking for best, u should never touch nimh batteries :P pick lithium batteries which gives 2x uptime for both video n shootin also doesnt get effected from hot n cold as nimhs does.
but if u are gonna choose the cheap solution eneloops are good.

I second that.

Haven't used any NiMH batteries with a camera yet, but I've got some Maha PowerEx batteries for my bike headlight (a strong one that drains them quickly...) and am very impressed with them. Great charger technology, too.

In Canada, I buy them from paulsfinest.com. Great store for knives & kitchen tools, too.

Sanyo Eneloops are very popular in part because of their low self-discharge rate. They'll be ready to use even after sitting idle for a year since the last recharge. Most NIMH (and NiCd) batteries self-discharge quickly and need to be recharged shortly before you plan to use them.

Maha PowerEx Imedion seem comparable or maybe a little superior to the Eneloops. Newegg.com has a large selection.

As a backup (in case your NIMHs run out of power because you forgot to recharge or did an extra-long shooting session), keep a set of non-rechargeable Lithium AAs in your bag.

Those battery options should all be interchangeable between camera and flash.
