Hmm! Missed this one and ordered K-r with 18-55 for $649 from NewEgg.

I am a new member here, not new to Pentax.
I bought iST DL back in 2006 with Tamron 18-200 lens.
Getting the upgrade so I can re-use my Tamron lens and Pentax flash.

First post here on the forums, but I've been looking to buy a Pentax K-R for a couple of weeks now and I 've been searching for the best deal every day.

The best deal I've found so far is at PROVANTAGE. They have the K-R with 18-55 and 55-300mm lens for $749.90+6.95 shipping.

I bought my Panasonic Lumix TZ5 from provantage a couple of years ago and had no problems. They don't seem to show up in price searches but I did a manual search and found this deal. They dont have too many in stock- shows 10 at the time of writing this.

It's probably similar to the K-x, where Pentax never bundled the 55-300mm lens except with the black bodies.

Yeah Abe's has a 2% fw cash back as well. Not sure which site is the better choice although just after submitting my order with Abe's a guy did call and ask me if I wanted to buy memory cards and filters. He was not too pushy though.

So technically the buy.com deal with cash back is around 697
Abes deal is at 728 with the coupons and cash back both with free shipping.

Just purchased mine from Abes of Maine. Used code "loyalty15" to get the price down to $613. I was concerned about the not so stellar reviews but everything went well. They do call you and try to hard sell extra items. Ordered on Sunday and the free shipping still got it to me by Wednesday.

The White K-R body + 18-55mm lens is now $619 at Amazon. Strangely cheaper than either the Red or Black kits. Anyhow, it's a couple bucks more than Abe's, but you get the peace of mind for returns along with good customer service. Oh, and no phone calls to upsell anything.

EDIT: Of course Amazon pricing is always changing, so there's no telling how long this will last.

Buy has the white k-r with a smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR Lens for $619.99 - which brings me to another question, does the DA WR even come in white to match the camera body? I thought this kit typically had the DA L 18-55mm lens as standard issue (which comes in white).
