New K-r Pentaxian

Hi,
I wanted to introduce myself, and take the time to thank the current members of this forum for helping me to make my decision. I was wavering between Nikon and Pentax for years, and finally made the decision to go Pentax... reasons:
1. you get more for your $
2. quality of kit lenses
3. according to a close pro photog friend, I am an "off-brand" kind of guy

My K-r with 2 lens kit is arriving tomorrow, and I am very excited. Before anyone asks, am fully aware of the FF issue with some of the bodies, and am not going to overly test to try to find fault unless I notice it in my shots I take daily.

Thanks, and looking forward to lots of Pentax goodness in the future.

Welcome

Hi Welcome to Pentax.
Are you sure it's arriving tomorrow with all the snow we are having :-)
I am also waiting for my K-r to arrive tomorrow (that's what UPS says)...

Thanks! Bangor is pretty photogenic in downtown. I will take some shots an upload them soon as I get acquainted with the camera... I am coming from a Canon G9 point and shoot, so I am expecting the increase in photo quality (especially above ISO 200) to be significant.

I don't know where you live, but snow here in New England is common enough to usually not impact UPS. (at least that is what I am telling my impatient self)

UPS out for delivery here too! looks good to me.

Acadia is very nice, and I plan to shoot there lots. I also plan to make it up to Katahdin occasionally.

Welcome, and hopefully you can get out there and create fine images like this in your trek there.

Not today anyway... the tracking # just updated, and the package is delayed due to inclement weather... I jinxed myself.

Got mine....

Ok got mine delivered today noon.
Outside box looked like was opened with tape off.
However black/white box looked fine.
One thing I didn't like is that the white lense cover on the camera body was off. That means dust could get in...:-(
Even when I tried to put the cap back on body it did not fit well at all. It was very easy to come off...

Waiting for battery to charge.... more to come later....

That is unnerving, I have hear Pentax doesn't do the best job with packaging...

This is my first DSLR, so I have no clue about dust, but I have heard from friends that cleaning a sensor is just something you should expect to have to learn sooner than later.

Let me know what you think as soon as that battery gets charged...

Did you get the 2 lens kit? if so, 200mm or 300mm?
