Shot at full zoom with kit 70-200mm lens

Literally the first pic I took straight out the box. My cat was playing with the plastic carrier bag that I got the camera in from the shop!

Just got my new K-r on Friday! Went to our local nature park yesterday to test it out, and it is absolutely amazing. Here are my favorite shots.

Let me know what you think, and give me suggestions! I am new to all this, but look forward to learning more

Edit: These were all taken with the 18-55mm kit lens, and were all manual focus. All were taken in "aV" mode, and I did have some problems with over exposure, especially with the sky clipping to white, so I did some PP on all of them to tone the brightness down a bit and bring out some more color

You are off to an incredible start, pdxfive! Gorgeous shots, especially looking up that oak trunk. The spore pods on the ferns give a really nice effect too. That pink flower (what is it?) looks about ready to emerge from the screen.

It's nice to see so many people are enjoying their Pentax K-r! I know I am!

This past July I made my yearly trip to visit family in Beijing, but it was the first time I went as an avid photo enthusiast. My Pentax K-r and Pentax primes went through so much abuse in the hot and very, very humid weather, but it was so worth it!

Here are five photos - one for each prime lens. All of these will have PP and cropping.

DA 21mm f3.2 Limited @ ISO 200, f8, 1/80 sec

DA 35mm f2.8 Macro Limited @ ISO 200, f6.3, 1/160 sec, flash-on

DA 40mm f2.8 Limited @ ISO 200, f5.6, 1/250 sec

FA 50mm f1.4 @ ISO 100, f16, 1/50 sec

Tele-Takumar 200mm f5.6 @ ISO 200, around f8 (preset), 1/320 sec

Just a few...

This one was taken today. This year's blackberries still a little sour. Should be good in a couple weeks. Sears 50mm f1.4

Just a couple of snails. Sears 50mm f1.4 on revering ring.

Full moon from last night. Pentax 55-200

Don't remember the lens used...

This is the best shot I have experimenting with panning a fast moving subject. Pentax 55-200

Nice action shot. Pentax 55-200

It took me many attemps to capture an ant in focus....using an old 50mm manual focus on a reversing ring.

I am loving this camera. My wife has a friend that shoots Nikon and she is extremely jealous of me being able to use the older pentak k mounts.....she has to spend a small fortune on lenses.....I can pick them up cheap on ebay!

New K-r

Got a new K-r a few days back and very impressed so far with the quality of the kit lens considering how cheap it is. I have a FA 50mm 1.7 on the way so it will be interesting to compare.

This photo at F8, 1/200, ISO 100, 48mm with pattern metering. Shrunk to 1.5MB to fit with forum rules.

Thanks - took a few goes experimenting with different settings, but I guess that's what new cameras are for!!

A couple more

This was F8, 1/160, ISO 200 at 48mm

This was F5.6, 1/15, ISO 800 at 50mm. Super quality for ISO 800. Hopefully will be even better with the prime.

I was outside this morning a little before sunrise and decided to try taking dewdrop pics! Took them with the DA L 55-300mm; all were 1/250, f/5.6, ISO 1600. The shutter speed is because they're all handheld and I'm very shaky. I had to keep increasing it. Anyway, being a n00b and all, I personally was extremely pleased with how these came out.
