Even though it was basically just a snapshot, this is still one of my favourites to date:

Noobie calling all :-) Here's a few of my first attempts using my K-r. All use either the 18-55mm or 50-200mm kit lenses and have been cropped and/or pp'ed in PS.

Auto, 1/125 sec, f/8, ISO 200, FL 200mm, 18-55mm

Auto, 1/125 sec, f/11, ISO 200, FL 50mm, 18-55mm

Auto, 1/125 sec, f/5.6, ISO 200, FL 87.5mm, 18-55mm

Thanks! Im glad you like it. Well i used 3200 iso for both and i think first one was 13 sec long exposure and 50mm set on 2.8 i think, for second one same except the shutter speed was set on 20 sec, but 13 sec is better. Ops almost forgot i did some pp in photoshop too

I might give that a try when I can see the sky instead of clouds.

Close up of cacti

Here is a picture of one of the cacti in my garden. I was experimenting with the macro setting. I love how some of the photos I took look like something from under a microscope. I think the detail is great. This cacti is about the size of a fist, I shot it using my K-r with Sigma 50-300mm using 300mm and macro setting getting as close as I could. I have had a challenging transition from film to digital. My K-r definitly has a personality different from my K1000, MEsuper, or ZX-7. I am gettting used to it slowly but surely. Just knowing the affects of ISO, f stop, shutter speed, etc have not been enough. After a couple of months shooting with my K-r am I even getting close to being able to see the photo in my mind before I activate the shutter. Great forum.

Speaking of macros, here are a few that turned out pretty well. The only post processing is cropping on a few of them.
