Recently bought this camera used(shuttle count 12k),my first dslr coming from PnS canon ixus.I've been doing some research for the past week looking for a decent dslr that is within my budget range, canon eos1100d,nikon d3100,pentax k-x or k-r.And i chose k-r that comes with kit lens 18-55 and 55-300.Been going thru all the 63 pages lovely picture posted and i added a few as a new registered member.

Nice captures ... and no "mistake" in my books. I was referring to my future outing with the K-r and then posting some of my sample captures ... Salut, J

Kr sunsets

A few recent sunsets with the Kr and 18-55 kit lens, shot in AdobeRGB, processed with Iridient RAW Developer to sRGB jpegs.

Really nice shots from that Kit lens, Diesler.. I 'm sure the Kr helped . Do you notice a difference using the 18-55 compared with your old camera. Freddy

Thank you Freddy!

I am not sure if you are confusing me with someone else but the Kr is my first DSLR, prior to this I used a Canon AV-1 film SLR with a 35-70 lens, so yes I do notice a difference! I think that the 18-55 is a pretty good lens for a kit lens, just a bit of distortion at the wide end.

Nice series and TFS, J

PS - Your last shot shows some dust on the sensor ... think about cleaning before it may become attached in a more difficult way and even permanently ...

Thank you Jean.

Yes, I have been a bit lazy cleaning the sensor lately! The dust will be there in all the shots, it is only visible in the last one. I did not know that the dust could become permanently attached?

Yeah, sometimes nasty pollens will do that ... or so I have read and/or come across such info somewhere along the way ... I try to check at least once a month by pointing up into a blue sky with the "ap" closed to max ... Problem is that in winter, there's not a lot of sunny days here ... Salut, J

It should be visible against a plain white background too, even if out of focus e.g. a sheet of white paper held in front of the lens I think (I have not tried this)?
