Hey what caused the halo around the periphery?

I used 1/160 secs for this shot and halo is mostly caused by when i sharpened that image since the image appeared to be abit soft at 200mm.

The Pentax K-r is my very first SLR camera. I just received it today, so this is the first time I've ever shot anything with a dSLR. My kids and I decided to take a walk to the park to try it out. Here are a few of my favorites. All of these are straight from the camera, no post processing (I don't know how to yet.)
