You're a lucky man, Gadge. I spent $56. US for my tak 55 and I know you will love it. You may never take it off your camera.
Here's one of my favorite shots from it. Hope it attaches properly. Freddy P.S. This is one of the few shots I have actually hung on my wall.

I'm just sticking with my DA55-300. It is a great lens for me, with remarkable bokeh as a bonus. As much as I loved my old DA50-200 I'm just more impressed with this beauty of a lens. Freddy
It is quite good with a close subject but I find it a bit soft for distant subjects, however, for the price I can't complain.

Goanna, really great shot for a a 300mm. I'm happy you like your lens, though. I seriously doubt that I would
ever shoot anything at more than 200 or 250mm, so I'm not concerned. I just love the lens. My next and FINAL
buy will be the DA50mm 1.8 plastic prime. If I really love it I might even sell my Sigma 50mm 2.8 eX macro lens If
I likke the plastic lens better. regards and thanks, Freddy

Hi Freddy. Got the 1.8 a couple of days ago. You're right-It's a top lens indeed. Been taking a few snaps and I reckon it will be on the Kr for a while now. Beautifully made and quite compact. Here's 3 I took recently. @ Wide open, F 2.8 and 100% crop @ F11

Hey, that's what I'm talkin' about, Gadge. Can't wait to get my 1.8. The bokeh on the 1st shot is just like my Tak 55. The middle shot is just plain superb. Mag color and clarity, and nice DOF, and in a restaurant, at that. Do'nt even need a flash with that baby.
Congratulations on a great buy!!! I'll be in touch. Freddy. P.S. I can't wait to go on my wall art outing in Brooklyn streets, soon. I'm talkin' about world class art, here. I'll also be bringing my 16-45, because some of the shots will need a wide angle. Freddy

Yeah Man, I think this little Takumar 55mm is my new best friend! The second shot was in my house, incidentally, so can't claim that that the light was that bad! Anyway, enjoy the outing in Brooklyn. Plenty of opportunities for some good shots there..15 years since I was last in N.Y.C. Great place. Cheers. Steve in NZ

Steve, I'm a litle confused. You did take these three shots with the Pentax DA50mm 1.8, right? I don't use my Tak because of the awkwardness of the M42 adapter. And, after all, the new lenses, in tandem with the high ISO's are just as good as the old glass and they also
have the automatic capability. Exciting subject, hey? Freddy

Hi Freddy. No, I took those with a Super Takumar 55mm 1.8. You were dead right about the bokeh in the first snap. Maybe what caused the confusion was that I had mentioned earlier about getting a half-decent zoom lens. Hopefully, the Sigma 17-70mm contemporary, if and when I can afford it. I got that Tak a few days ago in the post and just been having a wee go with it...

Well, I'm still getting the Pentax 50mm 1.8 in a couple of days. Just gotta have it. If I'm not happy with it I can always re-sell it or return it and go back to my Sigma 50mm 2.8 eX macro lens, which does take great pictures with wonderful bokeh. If I prefer the pentax 50 1.8 I'll then probably sell the Sigma 50, since I'm not really into
shooting tiny little insects, as a rule. By the way how do you like life in New Zealand. Freddy

It's a great place, Freddy. Been here 10 years now and originally from Glasgow, Scotland. Quiet, scenic, safe and healthier..On the down side, you can miss the vibrancy and eclecticism of the big city. That said, I couldn't go back to living there for any length of time- too used to the quiet life now. Steve
